ALEXANDRIA and ADIA

We’re looking forward to an addition to our family. We’d love to have our new little one join us when we head to the park, read books, have a play date with our friends, and visit Grandma & Grandpa.

Adia is thrilled about becoming a big sister! She is the best little caretaker—she cuddles her dollies, offering her pacifier, blowing their nose, feeding them, and putting them "night-night." At daycare, she takes care of the babies—patting their heads, kissing them, and when they cry, she says, "I hug you" before doing just that. She’s an affectionate, funny, energetic kid whose reputation has spread all over the college campus where Alexandria works. Folks stop Alexandria to ask, "Are you Adia’s mom?" then add, "She is so adorable, she greets me every day with open arms and a happy ‘Hi!’"
Life with Us:

  • A warm, four bedroom house on a quite cul-de-sac with a fenced backyard complete with swing set and big shady trees. We have friendly neighbors with young kids.
  • We live in a small East Tennessee town surrounded by state parks that’s only a short drive to the zoo, museums, and aquarium in Chattanooga.
  • A loving church home with a strong children’s church program. The child will be raised in a church home where God’s love is emphasized along with personal choice. Alexandria believes in what Jesus said of himself, "I am the way and the way is love." She also thinks it’s important that each person chooses God for him/herself, so the child will be raised in the church, but allowed to choose his/her own spiritual path as an adult.
  • Daycare at a university with an exceptional early child education program that supports and supervises the daycare. Adia loves it there, she’s eager to go and play with her friends each day. Her teachers volunteer to babysit because they enjoy her so much. She’s already been invited to birthday parties and play dates after only being there a few months.
  • College tuition is free because Alexandria is a college professor and an author. Grandma and Grandpa have started a fund for their grandkids to pay for living expenses. College is an encouraged and supported choice.
  • Lessons, classes, and activities that support the child’s interests. Adia loves music, so she’s enrolled in Kindermusic and has a great time at each class. I’d be glad to support my children in any pastime they choose—dance, music, aerobics, soccer, baseball, skateboarding –whatever the interest, I’d be glad to help them pursue it.
  • Trips—We love to go out and have fun as a family by heading to the zoo, going to the park, checking out fairs, and embarking on family vacations with Grandma and Grandpa.
  • A big, loving support group of friends and family. Alexandria has lived in nine states and has family and friends in everyone of them that stay in touch and stop by for a visit on occasion. They all know and love Adia and are eager to welcome our new child.

Sincerely,

Alexandria and Adia

CHUCK and RACHEL

Hello – we are Rachel and Chuck. We live on a small farm complete with a horse, chickens, and goats. We met while Rachel was attending UT and have been married for 16 years. We currently have one daughter, Chloe. We are eager and excited to welcome another child to our family and our lives.

Rachel – I am a stay at home mom. I was born in Atlanta, but I have lived in Knoxville most of my life. I have one brother and he and I have a good relationship. My parents are divorced and I maintain a close relationship with my mother, who I talk to and visit with regularly. My interests include art (pottery and painting), gardening, reading and exercise.

Chuck – I have one brother and two sisters. I work in a leadership role at a local engineering firm. I enjoy solving problems, fixing things, and I do most of the work on our old farm house. I like to read, enjoy all types of music and I love to cook and try new food dishes. I spend time outdoors whenever I can and I make my family my first priority.

Our family enjoys spending time together. We visit both sets of grandparents weekly and see our siblings regularly. Raising our daughter has been such an amazing experience; we would love the opportunity to parent a second child. Chloe frequently tells us she “wants to be a big sister,” and is excited about the idea of adopting a second child into our family.

We enjoy lots of outdoor activities: biking, canoeing, hiking, hanging out in the yard playing Frisbee, blowing bubbles or kicking the ball around, taking the dogs for walks, and going to a variety of parks. We also love to read and regularly visit the library for books and story time. Summer vacations include a trip to the beach and camping in the mountains, but last summer we had an amazing trip to Walt Disney World.

While our home is in a somewhat rural area, we are minutes from downtown. We go on lots of play dates and have made many friends. As parents we limit TV time but as a family we especially enjoy movie nights, and playing on the Wii. We also play lots of board games, cards and puzzles. Arts and crafts are a regular activity and we have a space set up just for that where messes are okay and creativity runs wild.

Our goal in parenting is to encourage our children to make the most of their God given talents, support them in their efforts to help them reach their full potential and provide for their well being and future. We rely on positive reinforcement and time outs for discipline. We are both Christians and raise our daughter with Christian values. We are active in our child’s education and supportive of her interests, and have provided her with learning activities and classes in these areas as she has shown interest. We would love to give a second child these same opportunities.

DREW and KERRY

Hello!

We are Drew and Kerry from Knoxville, TN. We have been married for ten years and are a happy and fun loving couple. We met through mutual friends, and instantly became best friends. One thing led to another and after an eight month courtship, we were married on June 23, 2001. We have been very blessed with a great marriage, a wonderful family, and great friends. We enjoy spending time together – traveling, dancing, attending concerts, sporting events, hiking, golfing, and just hanging out with our friends. The next aspect of our life we are very eager and excited to start will be seeing our family grow by welcoming our first child through adoption.

About Drew:
Drew is a loving husband. He is intelligent, loyal, and extremely funny. He always knows how to make me laugh, and even when I am down, he can make me smile. He is balanced, and he never takes things for granted. He is constantly aware of the many blessings we have, and is always appreciative. He loves movies, music, and just about any sport. His favorite thing to do is play golf, being outside and walking 18 holes with his friends. Drew works hard, both at his marketing job, and around the house. He has a very special personality, and children are drawn to him. Children find him equally funny and he often connects with them quickly. He will be an amazing father!

About Kerry:
Kerry is an amazing woman who possesses numerous qualities that have made her successful thus far in life and will make her a wonderful mother. Kerry loves a good time and is usually the life of the party. Kerry loves reading, music, and living an active lifestyle. She never misses an opportunity to go to the gym. She possesses many talents, most of which she earnestly applies to her career as a teacher; but she is also very musically inclined and enjoys spending spare time singing and playing guitar. Those that know her recognize her as a caring and empathetic person, whom they can count on to be at their side. All those qualities will make her a wonderful mother as well.

Our Extended Family:
Our families are thrilled about a grandchild! We are blessed to have a close-knit, loving, supportive family. Kerry’s family includes her parents, her older sister and her husband, and her younger brother and his wife. They all live very close to us, and we gather together every Sunday night for dinner. A long standing tradition in Kerry’s family is going to Hilton Head Island, S.C. for vacation. Once a year, the whole family goes, and we enjoy biking, going to the beach, shopping, fixing big meals together, and of course, golfing! Drew’s parents are serving as missionaries in Johannesburg, South Africa. They come back and stay one-two months a year, so those months are packed with good times. We also have been able to travel to South Africa twice, and we look forward to sharing this special experience with a child.

Our House:
We live in a nice brick home that sits on a one acre lot in Knoxville, close to our family, and only a half mile from where Kerry grew up. We have two dogs, Lucy and Desi, who are eight years old. They are great dogs who obey well, and we enjoy playing and spending time with them. The dogs love soaking in the sun in the big back yard, and there is plenty of room for a swing set and playhouse. We live in a quiet, friendly neighborhood, with a library, park, and pond just a short walk away.

Our Faith:
Our faith is very important to us, and our lives are shaped by our Christian beliefs. We are very active in our local congregation and regularly engage in a volunteer ministry. We strive to be good citizens, friends, husband and wife, and soon, we hope, parents.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our profile. We would love to meet you and answer any questions that you have for us. Please contact Pam Frye at Harmony Adoptions, 865-982-5225.

Sincerely,
Drew and Kerry

GARY and TERRI

Mom and Dad, What a journey life is, so full of love, fun and excitement. Then when we least expect it are faced with challenges. How we respond to those moments shape us and become part of our story. Although you may have been surprised by baby, God wasn’t. He has an incredible plan for baby’s life and yours. We continue to pray as you make important decisions concerning your child’s future. God can take what seems upside down and turn it into something beautiful. We are amazed at the love you are showing by choosing adoption for baby because you aren’t able to parent at this time. As our paths cross, we are facing a different challenge. We love children and have such a deep desire to welcome one last child to our family. This would not be possible without you, our hero! As a part of our family your child will know how special you are and how much you love her. Our song for you and the love you’ve given is Faith Hill, There You’ll Be, because a part of you will always be right with baby. Our hope is the strength you have shown will give baby strength to accomplish many dreams. We would be happy to continue communicating with you before and after birth so you will know how your child is doing through the years. Likewise we respect your privacy. Our entire family is excited and ready to welcome baby with unconditional love.

We are a super duper close Christian family. We attend a fantastic church with lots of opportunities for fun, fellowship, and worship. We want each child to know how special they are and that they are loved unconditionally by God and us. Our family has so much fun. We do practically everything together like sporting events, our mountain cabin, camping, beach, travel, water and snow skiing, boating at our lake home, movie nights, games, cooking, swimming and just hanging out. We love, support, and respect one another. Our daughter is a beautiful, secure and happy little girl. She is also adopted. She has always known and can’t wait to share this special bond with her new sibling. The boys are also so thrilled to welcome another member to the family. They love children and all promise to play, read and take care of our new little blessing. Baby will be so loved and spoiled!

Gary is a wonderful man and my very best friend. Gary is a devoted husband and father that owns/operates a very successful commercial contracting company. God has bless our finances tremendously. Your child will enjoy life long financial stability and security along with opportunities to travel, develop gifts and talents, attend college and pursue dreams. Your baby will share equally in an inheritance set aside for all our children. Gary is very well respected and liked in the community. He is strong as an ox and built like a line backer but such a soft gentle husband/dad. We always feel safe when he’s around. Gary loves to fish, hunt, play ball, etc. Best of all he loves us and doesn’t mind telling each of us everyday-Terri

Terri is my beautiful bride and best friend. She’s an incredible wife who prays for me, supports me, laughs at my corny jokes, and is hands down the very best mom in the world. The kids and I are very blessed to have her. Terri is a full time stay at home mom. She loves what she does and she is amazing at it. She loves children, reading, cooking, dance and music. She has experience taking care of premies, drug exposed newborns and healthy babies. Your baby will be loved and carried all day. We promise to cherish each and every moment.-Gary

Our 12,000+ sq.ft. home is nestled on 50 acres. We think it is a terrific place to grow up. In the back yard there is a large commercial size playground, swimming pool, outdoor kitchen, living, dining and guest house. We intentionally built our home large and open so that there would be plenty of room for family and friends. We are that house all the kids like to gather and hang out. We love it! We have been blessed with so many wonderful friends that feel like family. In addition, our extended family lives right here. We go to the same church, vacation and get together several times a week.

We would love to meet in person and answer any additional questions you have and just get to know you. We want to know what is important to you what you want for your child’s future. We will continue to pray for you. We love you and can’t wait to hold the child that God has placed in our heart.

JOE and WENDY

Hello! Thank you so much for taking a moment to look at our profile. Our names are Joe and Wendy. We live in a small town just outside of Knoxville. We have known each other all of our lives and have been married for 10 amazing years. We have a beautiful, bright and oh so smart little three year old named Scarlett. She is the light of our lives. We were blessed with her through adoption and are so hoping to get another chance to do it again. She is very excited about the possibility of a baby brother or sister and we think that going through an adoption will also help her to understand more about how she came to be ours.

We have a great group of friends and family that live close by. We call them Scarlett’s little ‘Fan Club’. We live next door to Wendy’s parents which is a fantastic thing. ‘Nana’ helps us with childcare and Scarlett loves having them so close. We have an amazing group of neighbors too. We live in a quiet, older neighborhood on a cul-de-sac which is a great place to ride bikes and play soccer. We have a ‘Perfect’ Golden Retriever named Butter and four cats. We love our animals and think that it is important for children to be raised with animals.

Wendy has been a Registered Nurse for 12 years. She loves her job and is very dedicated and such a hard worker. Working at Emergency Room at an area hospital, provides Wendy with a flexible schedule and fast pace and exciting work place. Wendy loves being a mom. She is very fun loving and sets great examples for Scarlett. They are always having little adventures around the house. It is fun to watch.

Joe served 4 years in the Air Force where he learned to work on heavy equipment (construction equipment mostly). It is not glamorous work but it is what he loves. Joe prides himself in being able to fix and work on just about anything. Currently he works for a company that rents heavy equipment to construction sites and contractors. Being a father and husband is his most important job. There are just no words to describe the feeling of getting a big hug from Scarlett on Saturday mornings and seeing Wendy’s smiling face. Simply hanging out with one another is our greatest joy. Goodness knows there is always something to do.

To sum it all up, we are not very flashy nor are we great adventurers to say the least, we are pretty simple but we have a very happy life and we always try to have fun no matter what. Please know that if you choose us your child will know how much you love him or her. We will respect you and always honor you from now on. We would be so humbled to receive such a gift and we know this on the most intimate level.

Sincerely, Joe, Wendy, Scarlett and Butter

KIRK and DAWN

Hello! Welcome to our family profile! We are Kirk and Dawn and we are excited to have the opportunity to introduce ourselves and tell you about our family! We are in our early thirties and have been happily married for nine years. Kirk is a Worship Minister at our church and Dawn works for a law enforcement agency. We are hoping to expand our family with a precious child. We have chosen adoption over having biological children because we believe it is God’s calling for our lives. Therefore, adoption is our first choice to expand our family rather than our second choice. To our knowledge, we do not have any issues with infertility.

We are looking to adopt a child of Hispanic, Asian, or Indian Descent. We enjoy embracing other cultures and languages and feel that it is important that the child know as much as possible about their ethnicity and race. Dawn is fluent in Spanish and speaks a little Chinese. Kirk speaks some Spanish and can understand more than he is willing to admit!

Church and missions are very important parts of our lives. We attend a Baptist church where Kirk works on Sunday mornings and evenings, as well as on Wednesday evenings. We also travel as often as possible to do missions either within the U.S. or internationally.

Kirk’s family consists of his mother, his father, a married sister, a married brother, two young nieces and one nephew. Dawn’s family consists of her mother, her stepfather, two married sisters, two nieces, and four nephews. Holidays, birthdays, and various other occasions are usually spent with family. They are all eagerly waiting for a new family member. The nieces and nephews are waiting for their new playmate, and the grandparents can’t wait to hug and kiss on their new grandchild!

We realize that choosing the right family for your child is a big decision, and we can’t imagine having to make the choice. We admire you for choosing adoption and wish you the best.

Now we’d like to tell you a little more about ourselves in our book. We hope it will help you get to know us better. If you would like to learn more about our family, please contact Pam Frye at Harmony Adoptions at 865-982-5225.

MAT and ANGIE

We are Mat and Angie from the Knoxville area. We have always dreamed of being parents, and we look forward to growing our family through open adoption. Mat and I want our child to know how much you love him or her, and we will gladly send you pictures and other updates so that you can experience the important milestones along with us.

Our story began over 14 years ago, when we were teens in high school working together at a local grocery store. We dated throughout college and married eight years ago, just after Mat joined the Navy. We spent three wonderful years living near Seattle, WA and then moved to Naples, Italy. In the two years stationed there, we were fortunate to travel all over Europe, and we even visited Egypt. When Mat left the Navy, we were finally able to settle down and chose Knoxville to be our home.

Mat and I value each moment we spend together. Whether we are traveling to another country or curled up on the couch watching a movie, we enjoy being together. After five years of battling infertility, we look forward to starting our next big adventure – parenthood!

We are fortunate to live just a short drive from the Smoky Mountains. Having the mountains close by allows us to hike, camp, and raft on any given weekend. We travel whenever possible and plan to continue exploring with our child. When we travel, we enjoy visiting museums and historical sites. Closer to home, we visit our farmer’s market and enjoy cooking organic food together often. We can’t wait to have a "helper" in the kitchen!

Mat has a passion for knowledge, and hopes to pass that on to our child. Even though he’s a professional engineer he isn’t afraid to be silly with kids. Mat enjoys exercising and regularly participates in fun runs and marathons. He’s ready to try it with a jogging stroller!

Angie enjoys doing all types of crafts and looks forward to a house filled with finger paintings and pillow forts. She loves the outdoors and enjoys camping, fishing, or just gardening at home. Angie can’t wait to become a stay-at-home mom.

We spend many evenings relaxing on the swing on our big front porch of our 100 year old home. We adore our home and love its cozy homey feeling. There is a park just two blocks away that we look forward to visiting regularly with our child.

Family is our first priority; we spend most of our vacations with our families. There are four VERY excited grandparents anxious to dote on a new grandchild. Our siblings are waiting with open arms to welcome a new addition to our family. Our niece, Maddie, will be a perfect playmate for our child.

While Angie has a large, close knit, all-American extended family, Mat’s family is multicultural. His mother grew up in Mexico City and her family lives there today. Mat’s parents have also traveled extensively, and as a result, have friends from all over the globe. We plan to teach our child about many different cultures.

We would love to hear from you! Please contact Pam Frye at Harmony Adoptions, 865-982-5225.

Best Wishes,
Mat and Angie

MATT and MICHELLE

Hello, we are Matt and Michelle. We are thrilled about becoming first-time parents and fulfilling our dream of a family through adoption. We admire you for choosing adoption for your child and understand that this must be a very difficult decision for you. Please know that if you choose us as adoptive parents, your child will always know of your love, strength and courage.

We are a fun-loving, compassionate couple that enjoys spending time with family, friends and our two small dogs. After several unsuccessful attempts with fertility treatments, we felt that adoption was the way we were meant to expand our family. This experience has only served to bring us closer and strengthen our marriage.

Matt is a manager at an auto parts retail store and Michelle is a commercial loan assistant at a bank. It was through our jobs that we met, since Matt would bring his company’s daily deposits to the bank. We were immediately attracted to one another and became inseparable. We married 2 ½ years later and will be celebrating our 4th anniversary shortly.

Matt is a very laid back, hard working and dependable person who has yet to meet a stranger. Matt always seems to have someone laughing and smiling with his good sense of humor and enjoys outdoor activities, movies and listening to music. Michelle is a compassionate, outgoing, determined, responsible person, who enjoys cooking, trying new things and spending time outdoors.

We live in a 2300 square foot home with four bedrooms and three bathrooms that sits on a half acre lot in the East Tennessee area. Both of our families are local, in fact Matt’s father and stepmother live right behind us, and are excited about welcoming their first grandchild! Our families and friends have all been a tremendous support system through this journey.

If we are chosen as adoptive parents, your child will have an abundance of love, affection, and endless opportunities.

If you are interested in learning more about us, please contact Pam Frye at Harmony Adoptions, (865) 982-5225.

Sincerely,

Matt and Michelle

TEDDY and KAREN

Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile. Our names are Teddy and Karen. We have been married for three years and Teddy has two children ages twelve and nine from a previous marriage. Since we married we knew that we wanted to have a child together, and after two years of fertility treatments we have learned that God has chosen a different plan for us. We both admire you for the courage that you are showing by choosing this decision and hope that you are led in the right path.

We were set up on a blind date by mutual friends and we have been together ever since. We are best friends who love relaxing and spending time together and with Teddy’s children. Teddy is a construction supervisor for a large company. Karen is a first grade teacher and loves being around the students at school and seeing how much they grow every year. Teddy enjoys working outside and doing yard work. Karen enjoys working in the house and reading when time allows. We love family game night where we play video games or board games as a family. The kids are very excited about having a little brother or sister.

We just finished building our dream home last fall. We have a 6200 sq. ft home with four bedrooms. We have a one acre and a half lot that backs up to a small farm. It is very much like living in the country, but you can get to the town in a matter of minutes.

Both of our families live in the area and are very excited about having another grandchild to spoil. We spend a great amount of time with our families and have a wonderful support system. We will raise our child in a loving home that is God and family centered. We attend the church that Karen was raised in and will provide a loving stable church family for our child.

We would love for you to get to know us better by looking at our book. Please contact Pam Frye at Harmony Adoptions, 865-982-5225.

Sincerely,

Teddy and Karen
