Harmony Adoptions has a long history of helping families adopt internationally. We work closely with international adoption agencies to connect adoptable children from around the world with forever homes in East Tennessee.

There are many questions you may have. We have tried to answer a few of the most common ones here, but please feel free to contact us to begin a conversation with one of our adoption specialists.

What types and ages of children are available for international adoption?

Children available for international adoption range from infants to older children, and include healthy children as well as those who have special needs.

Are you an international adoption agency?

We do not directly provide international adoptions. Instead, we partner with a network of international adoption agencies. Harmony Adoptions works as an approved home study provider for Hague Accredited Agencies throughout the United States.

What are the first steps to an international adoption?

The first step to an international adoption is to review and complete an international adoption application packet. This packet includes the forms you’ll need to get started, including an application, release forms, a home study contract, medical and immunization statements, and questionnaires. As a first step to starting your adoption, you may download the adoption packet from our web site.

After contacting Harmony Adoptions, parents are assigned an adoption specialist. The adoption specialist is available to guide parents through the complexity of the adoption process. These experts will help you develop a family profile and work your way through the paperwork and research required to successfully adopt. The adoption specialist also remains available to support the new family after an adoption is made.

Our adoption specialists will guide adoptive parents through the entire process, choosing an international placing agency, navigating the immigration process, home study assessment completion, dossier development, travel advice and recommendations.

Which countries have children available for adoption?

While children are available from almost anywhere in the world, American parents tend to adopt from a targeted list of countries. The international adoption process will vary from country to country. We have provided basic information about the international adoption process in several countries. Check out the countries below for specific information about each.

How much does it cost to adopt a child?

International adoption can be costly, but fees are generally paid over several months and aren’t sizable at the beginning of the process. In most cases, the largest expense comes when adoptive parents travel to another country or a child is escorted to the United States. While the amount of information about each child varies from country to country, adoptive parents will generally be able to see medical information and pictures of the child before choosing to adopt. We can arrange for medical professionals here in our community to review pictures, videos and reports on children being considered for adoption.

What happens after a child is placed in our home?

Our post-placement services are an important part of the adoption process. Your adoption specialist will make regular visits with your family to discuss your adjustment to the adoption experience. Additional information about our post-placement and post-adoption services is available on our site.
