Some families have been matched with a prospective birth family and only need an adoptive home study. You may already have a child in your home and are seeking permanency for the child by completing the legal process of adoption. Maybe you are working with a licensed adoption agency in another state for a domestic or international adoption. The home study process may feel complicated and overwhelming. A home study is a thorough evaluation of your capacity to parent an adopted child or children. The process includes gathering documents such as medical statements, birth certificates, marriage certificates, letters from your employer, criminal background checks, personal references and other documents, interviews and a home inspection.
