At Harmony Adoptions, you are not a case number. You are a family deserving of individual treatment with respect for your personal hopes and dreams. Our job is to provide you with the information you need to successfully complete an adoption. We are here to answer your questions and prepare you for the process.
There are many questions you may have. We have tried to answer a few of the most common ones here, but please feel free to contact us to begin a conversation with one of our adoption specialists.
Do you work with adoptions outside of Tennessee?
Yes. While we are an adoption agency based near Knoxville in East Tennessee, our network of attorneys, adoption agencies and hospitals opens doors to possibilities for adoption in Tennessee and across the country.
What are the first steps to a domestic adoption?
The first step to a domestic adoption is to review and complete an adoption packet. This packet includes the forms you’ll need to get started, including an application, release forms, a home study contract, medical and immunization statements, and questionnaires. As a first step to starting your adoption, you may download the adoption packet from our web site.
After contacting Harmony Adoptions, parents are assigned an adoption specialist. The adoption specialist is available to guide parents through the complexity of the adoption process. These experts will help you develop a family profile and work your way through the paperwork and research required to successfully adopt. The adoption specialist also remains available to support the new family after an adoption is made.
How much does it cost to adopt a child?
The cost of a domestic adoption varies depending on the adoptive situation. At Harmony Adoptions, adoptive parents pay a reasonable agency fee and are responsible for the actual expenses incurred by the birth parents. By arranging our fees this way, adoptive families pay only actual costs and not company overhead. Our goal is to provide quality services at the lowest financial risk for our clients.
What happens after a child is placed in our home?
Our post-placement services are an important part of the adoption process. Your adoption specialist will make regular visits with your family to discuss your adjustment to the adoption experience. Additional information about our post-placement and post-adoption services are available on our site.
